Nars Fall 2008 Collection

Nars

Today we continue the fabulousness of the fall collections with Nars. This collection debutes the much anticipated Dolce Vita blush. Dolce Vita has been the crown princess of their lipstick line and they’ve expanded it to include lipgloss and now the blush.

The eye shadows are of course gorgeous. These shimmer shades of golden, copper, greyish brown and mocha brown are very wearable, unlike some others I’ve seen this year. However, I will say that it seems like all their shadows are shimmer! Give us a rich matte duo, please!?

Isolde is a shimmer ginger and copper duo and Cordura is a shimmery brown and charcoal brown duo. Fez is a single shadow in a velvety brown shade.

Dolce Vita blush is a highly pigmented rich rose shade. If you are fair skinned like me, use a light hand with this, otherwise it will be too strong of a shade. Used lightly, it is beautiful.

Two new shades of lipstick are a nice addition with Beautiful Liar, a sheer spiced coral and Senorita, a sheer cherry blossom shade. Again both are shimmery.

Nars, known for their provacative shade names has added a new fun name to the repetoire in their new lipgloss called Female Troubles. It’s a lilac mauve shade and drumroll please… it’s shimmer!

I do really love this collection, even though I am making fun of all the shimmer. Just look at how fabulous this model looks with the colors -how can you not love it! Head thee to the nearest Nars counter to check out the new line. If in the Minneapolis area, be sure to call or see Sal at the Macys Minneapolis 612.375.2200 -tell him Kari sent you!

Smashbox – Wicked Lovely

Smashbox

Tell me, which one are you? Is it the rocker sister vs. the good girl? The party bad arse vs. the angelic book worm? You can pick your look with Wicked Lovely, the new fall collection by Smashbox.

On the left is the Wicked look, a smokey eye, intense liner, flush cheek and neutral lip. On the right is Lovely, in a soft neutral eye with a medium lower lash color, flush cheek and again neutral lip.

These are great looks for evening and day, adventurous or reserved, daring or subtle. Every time I think of this collection I want to use dissimilar words. But let me describe some of the product.

First off the most fabulous thing in the collection is the Wicked Lovely Cream Liner and Loose Shimmer. I think this is one of the best cosmetic packaging out there in all the new fall collections I have seen so far. On the top of the jar are three creamy liners in mocha brown, copper bronze, and charcoal blue shades with a mirror built into the lid. Twist off the top and underneath a silvery charcoal shimmer is revealed. Now it looks super glitter/shimmery in the jar, but when you blend it in, it doesn’t seem glittery at all – just a nice shimmer. I love this little jar of eye candy!

Also in the collection used for the Lovely look is the Eye Shadow Duo in Sexy/Demure, which is shimmery peach and brown and Sinful/Demure which is a shimmery ivory and charcoal combination. Of all the new products, these probably wowed me the least. The colors didn’t seem like anything new that they haven’t had before. But they are a nice duo if you want simplicity and ease of use.

The Double Take Lip Color is a great chunky pencil that has lip liner on one end and lip color on the other. Again a package of super convenience. It’s packed with vitamins to keep your lips moist and luscious. Top off your lip color with 2 neutral or one sinfully pretty black cherry colored lip glosses.

Finish off your beautiful face with Blush Rush . It is a soft warm pink color that feels almost moisturizing for a powder. The compact is fabulous with a swivel out mirror.

Now I hope I’ve helped you decide which one you are – Wicked or Lovely.

Prescriptives New Fall Daring Collection

Prescriptives Daring

I am certainly feeling the love of this new Daring Collection! I am beyond thrilled when I look at the beautiful colors in this new fall collection.

As you may know, Prescriptives will categorize your makeup by your skintone, called Colorprinting. Red/BlueRed/Red Orange/Yellow Orange. Many years ago (20+) I was Colorprinted as a Blue/Red. Maybe it was because my face has red blotchiness in areas, but it was the totally wrong color for me and I had even tried having Custom Colors done and again, it just never worked. Fast forward to the new century and they have more experienced and better trained staff to get the RIGHT color for you. Which in my reality I am a Yellow Orange and about the 3rd or 4th shade in on the color spectrum, which suits me perfectly. BIG difference!

So the colors I have shown here are not all the colors in the new collection – it’s just a teaser. Take the beautiful eye shadow palette, which comes in all these yummy colors, depending on what works best for your tone. But hey, you can switch the palettes around – you don’t have to stick to your Colorprint spectrum(other than foundation).

But the pinks, the gorgeous plums, charcoals, brown and blues – I could go on and on. Nothing shocking, just rich, drop dead, beautiful fall colors.

Or try this Fall Dimensions Cheek and Eye Palette if you like. It’s multi-purpose with 3 shades – a soft flesh tone, pink and a bronze. Swirl your blush brush over all for a dimentional face color or use them individually as eye shadows.

Make the eye shine with these incredibly fun Sparkle Eye Pencils in either Plum Sparks or Midnight Sparks. What a fun way to make the eyes shine with out having shimmer or glitter all over the eye. Brilliant!

With deep, intense eye colors use a neutral lip in either lipstick or gloss. Just don’t do too much of a good thing with color everywhere.

As you can tell, I am drooling all over this collection! Head to your nearest Prescriptives counter to check it out. If in the Minneapolis area, ask for Dana at the Macy’s counter 612-375-2200. She’ll match you perfectly and have you in a beautiful fall face in no time.

Chanel Fall Collection

I know some of you are thinking “What? Fall makeup collections already?” Well, quite frankly, yes. Besides the fact that I absolutely LOVE the Fall season (the humidity of summer doesn’t like me) I love the beautiful colors of the Fall collections. That and the fact that if you like some of these collections we are about to explore this week, you must get thee to the stores and purchase right away, as most are limited editions – once they’re gone – they’re gone!

Chanel Fall Collection

So let’s start with week off with one of the primo lines in cosmetics – Chanel.

This collection is filled with gold. Gold eyeshadow, gold lips, gold highlighter, gold nails -well you get the picture. The model on the left looks lovely, (closeup of partial collection below) and I suppose with the right mixtures and combinations of use of the gold, you too can look as lovely.

Bronzer

But not me. It’s just too much gold, and it’s a bright yellowy gold – not a bronzy gold. I think it is a tone of gold that very few people can wear. Maybe a hint of it here or there, but certainly not everywhere. Maybe if you’re in your 30′s and you want to be a little daring and experiment with gold, give it a try. That much gold on a face in their 40′s and above – it may be too harsh.

But alas, there are some other colors new to the fall collection that they just aren’t promoting as much as the gold.

Le Vernis

I love the new nail color in the shade Fantastic. This too is a limited edition color and it is BEAUTIFUL! I see it as a lighter shade of Vamp. Something maybe a little more wearable for women that like Vamp, but are a bit intimidated by the darkness of it. A gorgeous plum with just a tiny hint of gold shimmer. Not nearly as much gold as last year’s color addition of Tulip Noire. This will definitely be a #1 nail polish in my repertoire. The color is more true in this photo than what is shown when you click on the actual color samples on their website, keep that in mind.

Fantastic Plum

Another piece in the collection that again, not showing as much but is really beautiful is the lip color Fantastic Plum. The same shade as the nail color, and again, not the blackish plum when you click on the color on their website.

On your cheeks use this Rose Dust shade for a hint of subtle color on your cheeks. It doesn’t scream P-I-N-K and not too brown – and nice mixture of both.

Chanel Blush

So be sure to check out this and the remaining limited edition Fall Collection of Chanel, as I’m sure it will go fast. If you’re in the Minneapolis area – go to Nordstrom and ask for Lisa K. Tell her Kari sent you! 952.883.2121

New Mascara by Chanel

Mascara

Chanel has come out with a new mascara. It’s called Exceptionnel de Chanel. If you aren’t a big fan of Inimitable mascara because it just doesn’t give you the volume you need, you may be a fan of this new mascara.

This new mascara is supposed to give more volume than Inimitable and curl your lashes as well. The interesting thing about this brush is that it is 6 sided. Having a brush with that much dimension is sure to keep the clumps at bay.

For now it’s limited in its availability on the website and a few department stores, most certainly set for unlimited availability soon.
