Moisturizing Beauty Mask

I am a true, self professed, skin care addict. Always have been and always will be. Ever since I was in my early teens I’ve always washed my face before bed, no matter how late or what state of mind I may be in, my face does not touch the pillow until it’s makeup free. In the future I’ll be discussing my skin care regimen, but today it’s all about the mask.

Just like in the Jim Carrey movie The Mask, once you put a mask on your face, you too can become a super hero. Well, not really, but you get my drift – your skin will be super at least! A moisturizing mask is a must at least once a week even if you are prone to oily skin like me.

I really like this Artdeco Caviar Lifting Mask. It firms, reduces fine lines and moisturizes wonderfully. And the best part is that it is only $35 and available at Walgreens. It’s part of the European Skin Care Line and Artdeco is from Germany where it’s a high end, expensive line of skincare. Don’t you love it when you can find great products at drugstore prices!
Here’s a tip on applying masks. Apply your mask and then hop in the shower. The steam from your shower will help the mask penetrate your skin and make it feel even more fabulous. Now go face the day in “Super Hero” mode!

Exciting News at Bobbi Brown

If you haven’t already taken a look at the new Bobbi Brown Nude Palette run, don’t walk, to your nearest Bobbi Brown counter. It’s simply gorgeous! The colors are very soft and neutral with a hint of peachy/blush nude tones versus the pink tones that she’s been doing as of late. My makeup artist Heidi at Nordstrom’s MOA (that’s Mall of America to those of you not from MN) used the colors Naked and Buff on my eyes and did a mixture of Brownie Pink, Bare & Beige on the lips and topped the lips off with Almost Bare Glitter Lip Gloss. She finished the eyes off with Cobalt Long Wear Eye Gel to make my eyes pop. A hint of Pale Pink blush and I’m ready for a polished look for work, daytime errand running or add a little deeper color to the eye for an evening look. It’s a great palette, but appears more grey toned on the website. There’s free shipping on ANY online purchase thru March 1st at http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/

The most exciting news out of Bobbi Brown, and coming soon to a store near you, is the new packaging of her products. With Bobbi being a busy mom of 3 boys and travelling all the time, she is going to a palette system for her products. The cases will hold 3, 4, or 6 squares so you can mix and match your colors to fit into the case. Just throw in your handbag, travel bag or desk. She also will have a lip guide to help you with your perfect lip color combinations. Put together a lip pencil, lipstick and/or gloss that all work together so there is no guessing what will work for you, and offering it in different intensities. I have to say, I’m excited for this! I know she’s come out with different packaging before and then it doesn’t fit in the case you may have previously purchased, which is frustrating, but this time I think she’s gotten it right.

Some of the new colors in the future Bobbi line will also be subtle tones, specially geared to those of us who are fabulous now that we’re over 40! There’s a new set of bronzers coming out with just a hint of shimmer. She wants to teach all of us over 40 that it’s OK to have some shimmer and how it can bring out and highlight certain parts of our face without looking like the Tin Man from the Wizzard of Oz.

I’ll keep you posted on the arrival of the new system.

I’m Seeing Red

Red is the color of the Heart Health Month February, the color of love and the color of the Oscars.

Tonight was the night that glamour was back on the red carpet, and the color red was the big winner along with impeccable hair and makeup, and simple jewelry.

Heidi Klum looked spectacular in her Galliano gown and smokey eyes and nude lips. Her dress is up for auction at http://www.mycokerewards.com/ to support women’s heart health.

Anne Hathaway was stunning in Marchesa. Her eyes were smokey and lips red and were beautiful against her pale skin. Pony tails for the hair also seemed to be the style for the night as well. Her jewelry was simple with dangling earrings. I’m anxious to see her in the fall as Lancome’s spokesperson. She’s a class act.

Ruby Dee and Katherine Heigl continued the red Hollywood glamour trend. Katherine also had a one shoulder dress that was another big hit on the red carpet. The young set of Miley Cyrus, Saoirse Ronan looked age appropriate and tasteful.

A pregnant Cate Blanchett looked gorgeous as usual with a dress by Dries Van Noten. Her hair was simple and with the detailed neckline on the dress I think it works well. Her makeup looked flawless and she is one of the most stylish women in Hollywood. She knows how to always push the button for her looks, and always comes out a winner.

Pregnancy was also prevalent at the awards with Cate, Jessica Alba, Nicole Kidman to name a few. They all were glowing.

My award for worst dress of the night goes to Best Supporting Actress award winner Tilda Swinton. It looked like a one armed gunny sack. She was void of any makeup and with her pale skin tone and red hair she could have been stunning with even simple makeup.

And my award for the most handsome man goes to George Clooney. Even though he didn’t win the big award of Best Actor, he still wins with me!

I’d love to hear your comments about the red carpet!
