Recently I posted about meeting Carmindy in person at a book signing of her new book Get Positively Beautiful: The Ultimate Guide to Looking and Feeling Gorgeous.  Well, she is GORGEOUS and knows how to make women feel the same.

When standing in line for the book signing, all of us admirers were given a few full size samples of her products that she has created for Sally Hansen.  I was handed a little round jar in a lavender color and a tube of beautiful lip gloss.   Upon first glance at the round jar, I thought “hmmm, slightly unusual color for an eye shadow”.  As I walked up to Carmindy, she suggested a few products from her line - one her concealer which she swears by and said she had put hers on in the AM and it was still put at 7:30 PM.  The other her foundation, and looked at me and instantly suggested a shade without any kind of testing or matching on my face.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Prescriptives hands us the Aglow collection - and it’s aglow with winter icy goodness!

In the usual Prescriptives goodness, the collection is offered in warm and cool tones, so let’s start with the eyes.

The warm eye palette $62, is in four shimmery shades of banana, brunette, suede and chestnut.  The cool palette shimmery shades are shell, oyster, star and eclipse.  Both tones are beautiful day or night doable shades.

Chanel Holiday Colour Collection

Posted by Kari on Nov-13-2008

Chanel has gone and done it again - one of my all time favorite collections this season.  It is beyond beautiful - it is stunning!

The eye palette has won me over this season.   On the photo shown there is the photo by Chanel and the one by my own camera.   Slightly different colors coming through on the photos, but beautiful none the less.

The colors in Beiges de Chanel $56, are a creamy vanilla, a pale golden creamy shimmer, a khaki with slight shimmer and a chocolate with golden flecks. This beautiful palette is not just a “holiday palette”.  It can be used daily and create a wide variety of looks from neutral to smoky to intense smoky.   When I wore these colors I had 3 comments that day at work saying my eyes looked beautiful!   Now if that’s not an endorsement, I don’t know what is!

OK I guess I should get on to the rest of the holiday collection.   There is the Gold Highlighting Powder $75 - shimmering gold for anywhere on your body.  Shimmer up those bare shoulders or daring décolleté.

If doing a more neutral eye, you can brighten up the lips - the Red Shine Glossimer lip gloss $26, is a way to get a bright lip without doing a full-on red.   Or lighten it up with Creme Gloss Lumiere $32, in Praline Rose or Canele. Or as another option, the Rouge Allure Satin Lipstick $30, in one of the four shades; Audace, Exaltation, Ardent and Nude.

The new cult favorite nail color is called Haute Chocolat in a creamy chocolate color with gold flecks.  Good luck trying to find it - it’s sold out already on most department store websites, but maybe you can find one at a secluded store.  But then, I’m not so sure it’s for the over 40 set.   We can leave that trend to our daughters.

Chanel also has some beautiful gift sets that I will share with you in a near future post.   My opinion overall - this is definitely not a collection you want to miss!

Today we continue Holiday Collection week with Laura Mercier Black Tie and Champagne collection.   Aside from my opinion that the model looks too much like Paris Hilton in this photo, it is the most subtle looking collection shown so far this week.

The eyes have it again - smoky all the way.   This Tuxedo quad ($38) is in varying shades of black to white allowing you to play with the intensity creating sultry to dark smoky.
